Application of Gear and Rack in the Elevator Industry
Main Drive System for Construction Hoists
In construction hoists, power is transmitted from the motor to the gearbox, driving the output pinion to mesh with the racks fixed on the mast section, thereby moving the cage vertically. Our large-module (M8/M10) construction racks are specifically engineered for high-rise projects, capable of supporting multi-ton loads while ensuring smooth operational stability at extreme heights.
Safety Device / Fall-arrest Mechanisms
This is the most critical safety component in elevators. When the cage exceeds its rated speed, the centrifugal mechanism inside the safety device engages its pinion with the rack, forcing the cage to a controlled stop. We provide high-strength braking gears with exceptional core toughness to ensure no brittle fracture occurs during emergency braking moments.
Critical Considerations and Technical Rigor
Material Fatigue & NDT Inspection
Consideration: Elevators are exposed outdoors and endure frequent vibration loads, making rack roots prone to fatigue cracking.
Solution: We use premium C45 or 40Cr steel and perform 100% Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) on all racks. Our measuring tools are annually calibrated by third-party agencies to ensure geometric dimensions and heat treatment depths meet strict safety codes.
Pitch Deviation at Splicing Joints
Consideration: Hoist masts are assembled from multiple sections; excessive pitch errors at joints cause severe vibration or "tooth skipping."
Solution: We utilize segmented precision grinding and high-precision tooling. Drawing on our assembly expertise, we control cumulative pitch errors within minimal tolerances, providing a vibration-free vertical transport experience.
Lubrication & Wear Monitoring
Consideration: Construction sites are harsh; dust mixing with grease forms an abrasive paste, accelerating gear wear.
Solution: High-viscosity open-gear lubricants are recommended. Our customized gears can be paired with automatic spray lubrication interfaces. We also provide wear-limit gauges for regular inspection to ensure components are replaced before reaching dangerous wear levels.
