Features
Synchronous toothed belt is also called timing belt. It is similar to common belt transmission methods such as V-belt and flat belt. It is a flexible transmission form. Synchronous toothed belt uses steel wire rope or glass fiber rope as a strong layer, and is covered with polyurethane or chloroprene rubber on the outside. The inner circumference of the belt is made into a tooth shape to mesh with the toothed belt pulley. Since the strong layer has little deformation after bearing, it can keep the circumference of the toothed belt unchanged, so there is no relative sliding between the belt and the pulley, thus ensuring synchronous transmission and constant transmission ratio.
The belt body of a synchronous belt consists of a tension layer, a tooth layer, a cloth layer and a rubber layer. The tension layer is a core rope with high tensile strength, usually surface-treated glass fiber, polyaramid fiber or steel wire rope. This layer mainly bears the tensile force of the load. The tooth layer is the part of the synchronous belt that contacts the pulley, and its tooth root line is roughly at the position of the pitch line to ensure that there is no circumferential change when bending. Its tooth shape must be accurate and not easily deformed in order to accurately transmit motion. The cloth layer is wrapped around the entire tooth layer to protect and prevent cracking. The rubber layer is also called the belt back. Its main function is to stick the tensile material of the tension layer to the pitch line of the belt and protect the tensile material.
