Large Diameter Ball Screw - 40 mm to 80 mm Shafts
Injection moulding machines, presses, heavy gantries and large machining centres push more axial load than a 16 or 20 mm screw can survive. Once the design calls for a 40 mm shaft or bigger, the questions change: how long can the shaft be made in one piece, how heavy is it to ship, and which leads are actually standard.
Our standard large-diameter range covers 40, 50, 63 and 80 mm shafts, in accuracy grades C10, C7 and C5.

Three Things Buyers Ask About
How long can one piece be? Up to 6000 mm for 40 and 50 mm shafts, and 7000 mm for 63 and 80 mm. A long shaft is only useful if it can spin at your speed without whipping, so check critical speed against your end support layout before fixing the length.
How heavy is it? Heavier than most people guess. A 5-metre 80 mm screw is close to 200 kg of shaft alone (39.3 kg/m). Plan lifting points, packing and freight early - it affects lead time and shipping cost.
What do the starts mean? The very long leads - 40, 50, 80 and 100 mm - use multi-start threads (4 or 8 starts). That is how a 50 mm shaft gets a 100 mm lead without an absurdly steep single groove. These are built for fast travel, not maximum thrust.
Left-Hand Threads
SCR4005, SCR4010 and SCR5010 are listed in both right-hand and left-hand versions. Left-hand screws are used in pairs on centring clamps and symmetrical opening mechanisms, where two nuts must move toward or away from each other on one rotation.
Accuracy Grade at This Size
