The Chain Coupling

The chain coupling uses a common chain to mesh with two parallel sprockets with the same number of teeth. The main difference between chain couplings of different structural types is that they use different chains. Common ones include double-row roller chain couplings, single-row roller chain couplings, toothed chain couplings, nylon chain couplings, etc. The chain coupling has the advantages of simple structure (composed of four parts), convenient assembly and disassembly, no need to move the two connected shafts during disassembly, compact size, light weight, certain compensation ability, low requirements for installation accuracy, reliable operation, long life, and low cost. It can be used for shaft transmission of machinery such as textiles, agricultural machinery, lifting and transportation, engineering, mining, light industry, and chemical industry. It is suitable for high temperature, humid and dusty working environments, not suitable for high speed, severe impact loads and axial force transmission. The chain coupling should work under good lubrication and protective cover conditions.


There is an empty stroke when reversing, and it is not suitable for reverse transmission with large impact loads.


Several reasons for coupling failure:
1. Overload, the coupling is used beyond the load;
2. The chain or sprocket is excessively worn due to long-term use;
3. The cover is not installed, the chain is rusted and broken.
