What material is the sprocket made of?
Usually, the sprocket is mainly made of 40Mn, 40Mn2, 45Mn, and 45# steel. The specific choice of the sprocket material depends on the actual use requirements.

1) The wear resistance and strength of the sprocket assembly determine the working efficiency of the entire fully mechanized mining face, and it is a key part of the power drive of the scraper conveyor. The material and heat treatment method determine the wear resistance and strength of the sprocket.
2) The sprocket is generally in the working environment of friction with the chain at the chain pocket, so for the strength of the sprocket, the quenching hardness and the depth of the hardened layer at the chain pocket are quite critical.
3) For the sprockets made of 42CrMo and 40CrNiMoA, the quenching hardness of the tooth inner surface and the chain nest contour of the two materials can reach HRC50-55. The depth of the hardened layer of 42CrMo and 40CrNiMoA can reach about 8mm and 12mm respectively .
4) Compared with 42CrMo material, 40CrNiMoA material has more nickel elements added, so its own plasticity and toughness will be improved, and the corrosion performance will be improved accordingly. When used in combination with chromium and molybdenum, the heat strength and hardenability will be improved. Correspondingly, it has good high-temperature oxidation resistance and oxidative medium corrosion resistance, which is superior in relatively harsh environments, and is suitable for fully mechanized mining faces with large coal mining volumes.
Specifically how to choose the material of the sprocket can be determined according to the fully mechanized mining needs of the mine, and the manufacturer can determine it according to the different fully mechanized mining faces, the size of the coal mining volume and the working environment.
